HOUSE IN THE OLIVE GROVE

Project: House in the Olive Grove, Residential Project

Location: Ayia Varvara | Nicosia

Year: In-progress

House in the Olive Grove emerges from the Cypriot landscape, where the rhythm of olive trees shapes the residence’s identity. The project explores the intersection of tradition and modernity, weaving together an existing structure with a new volume to create a harmonious dialogue between the old and the new.

The house is a reflection of its surroundings, with each element carefully chosen to complement and enhance its context. The renovation preserves the original structure, offering a retreat-like atmosphere with private spaces, while the new extension expands the living experience into an open, flowing space. The connection between these two volumes is marked by a glass bridge, a subtle threshold that mediates the transition between intimate and public spheres.

The material palette is grounded in simplicity — wood, light surfaces, and clean lines — creating a tranquil environment where natural textures and geometry prevail. The exposed wooden beams and pitched roof evoke the simplicity of traditional Cypriot architecture, yet with a contemporary twist, embodying the essence of the region without imitation.

Large windows frame the olive grove, drawing the landscape into the home and establishing an uninterrupted relationship with the outdoors. The light filters gently through the spaces, inviting nature to become part of the daily experience.
